Walter Podwirny, Jr., 84, passed away Wednesday evening, September 24, 2025 at the Warren Center following a brief illness.
Born on September 23, 1941 in Ballston Spa, he was the son of the late Walter and Margarette (Stevens) Podwirny. He was a 1960 graduate of Hadley Luzerne Central School.
He married Diane Jones on September 18, 1963 in Glens Falls.
Walter worked as a machinist for 38 years at Finch Pryun. He retired in 2003 from the mill and then drove a school bus for Queensbury School District for seven years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid reader.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Karen Kenyon.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Diane Podwirny; their children: Debra Frenette of Kingsbury, Mark (Rose) Podwirny of South Glens Falls, Steven Podwirny of Queensbury; grandchildren: Allison Burns, Katlyn Podwirny, Lili Podwirny, Kelsee (Robert) Quinones, Hannah Podwirny, Kyle Frenette; one great grandchild, Marlowe Quinones; two brothers: Dennis Podwirny of Kingston and Bruce Podwirny of Lake Luzerne; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there are no services scheduled.
