I can’t imagine two bigger Yankee fans in Lucerne than Tommy and I. We listened to Yankee road games in Tom Garners cabin (Behind the current library on the river) on a halicrafter radio until the early morning hours when they were in KC. Nobody hustled more on the ball-field or was a better friend. While I haven’t seen Tom in many years I have never forgotten him, nor will I. My best to Tom’s family.

Mr. Hayden,
You were always a great man in my eyes. Your son is still my best friend after 36 years. I spent many a day at your home with your family and realized your kindness first hand. I played many many hockey games with you present and your love for the children and the game was palpable. You will make an awesome addition in heaven and you will be sorely missed. God Bless.

When Tom moved to Luzerne he brought a breath of fresh air to our junior high crowd. He always told it like it was, loved the Yankees, and was ready to share some fun and a laugh.  I moved away after ninth grade, but even before that I remember him as an excellent basketball player and who was very devoted to his Mother and family. My condolences to you Joan and your family, and please remember that Tom will be with you all in your memories that will only grow stronger in time. Prayers for you all, Richard Pabst
