Hadley
Thomas S. Dockery, 90, of Hadley Hill Road, passed away Thursday, afternoon, August 29, 2024, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born on November 24, 1933, in New York City and raised in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Stephen and Phyllis (Bentivegna) Dockery.
On October 24, 1959, he married Eileen L. Griffin.
He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He joined the New York City Police Department in 1958. He and his partner, Leonard Fleck, were seriously wounded in an ambush by the Black Panthers in 1968. He was retired by the NYPD in 1969. After retiring from the police department, he went to work for Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company as a fraud investigator in their credit card division. He worked there 21 years and retired as a vice president in charge of the credit card security department. In 1994 he and his lovely wife Eileen moved from Merrick, Long Island to Hadley where they had a camp since 1968. Tom then worked in real estate for about 10 years before retiring as an associate broker with Schuh Real Estate in Hadley. The love of his life, Eileen, passed away on June 8, 2014, after a long illness.
Tom was a sports enthusiast and was especially fond of football where he had played quarterback for St. Francis Prep in Brooklyn and with the Bay Ridge Terrors (only old time Brooklynites will know who they were).
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Eileen, sister-in-law, Loretta (Walsh) Recco.
Survivors include his brothers: John F. Dockery and Lawrence P Dockery as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home.
The Rite of Committal will be in Luzerne Cemetery, Lake Luzerne
