Sharon Benjamin Obituary

Sharon A (Davis) Benjamin, fondly known as The Warden, Sister Mary Hussy, Graminator, MeMe, Annie, and MA passed away peacefully on 07/14/2022 at GF Hospital after a long illness surrounded by her family.  Sharon was born 11/13/1946 in Readsboro VT.  She graduated High School in 1964 where she then married Eugene and they had 4 children Michael, Norma, Tammie and Kevin.  They raised their family in Westminster VT.  In 1983 Sharon moved to Gansevoort NY where she welcomed her 5th child Amanda Lynn and met her lifelong best friend, Candy Duell.  She then began her career at Capital DDSO as a developmental aide while raising Amanda.  After 25 years working, she finally retired to become a fulltime Grammy to her 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.   She also took great pride in being the Grammy to several fur babies.  When she was not with her grandchildren, she enjoyed reading “smut magazines”, Danielle Steele, frequent visits to Walmart, Ty in a tuggie, her feet being tickled by her Justin, hiding candy she wasn’t supposed to have, giving out candy, and going on any adventure with her family.

She taught her family so much over the years like to “not sweat the small stuff”, to be the best grammy, how to make her famous potato salad, how to not wash dishes, to become cup sniffers for life, to make sure family is the most important thing and to cherish every moment by laughing, laugh at each other, laugh at yourself just laugh.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents Cassius Levi Davis, Norma Evelyn Davis, her brothers, Louis Davis, Raymond Davis, her sister Linda Davis, her son, Michael Benjamin, her grandson, Joshua Hamilton and her roommate/caregiver at times, professional lap dancer and her monkey face’s dad Jerry Decarli.

She was survived by her brothers, Steve Davis, Glens Davis and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her children; Norma J Hamilton (“Noni”), Tammie J Benjamin (“deucey doll”), her fiancé Tyler Bellamy, Kevin E Benjamin (“her baby boy”), his partner Renee Armao, her “favorite” Amanda Baker (“Mandie”, “Monkey Business”) her bonus children Rebecca Wester (“my Becky”), Jason Baker (“better than underwear”).  Last but not least her friend, caregiver and “Bonja” Bonnie Gunn.

Her grandchildren; Trystan Simano, Adam Hamilton (“my adam”), his girlfriend Sadie Dorr, Breanna Madison (‘my Breeda”), her husband and Sharon’s favorite Tyler Madison,  Justin Benjamin (“my justin”), his fiancé Leandra Allen (“my lanny complainy”), Cody Benjamin (“my cody bug”), his girlfriend Nicole Schweitzer, Nikolas Benjamin (“my Nik Nik”), his fiancé Ashley Bovee, Blake Decarli(“my monkey face”), and Elijah Wester(“doo doo”).

Her great grandchildren Maddie Merrow, Molly Merrow, Cory Simano, Jameson Benjamin and Willow James Madison.

Her great great grandson Anthonni Dear.

Her final wishes for everyone were to remember her laughing, her stories, and her dancing to Dwight Yoakum.

Calling hours for Sharon will be at Brewer Funeral Home in Lake Luzerne NY on July 29th 4 P.M – 7 P.M.  The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date to spread her ashes.
