Ruth E. Homestead

Ruth E. Homestead, 92, formerly of Ridgewood Dr., passed away Monday morning, January 25, 2021 at the Warren Center.

Ruth was born on September 13, 1928 in Irvington, NJ.  She married Herbert W. Homestead on April 30, 1955 in Irvington, NJ.  Herbert passed away on May 21, 2016 following 62 years of marriage.

She worked as a secretary for the guidance office at Piscataway High School in Piscataway, NJ for several years.  She and Herbert had purchased a vacation home in Lake Luzerne in 1974. They made it their permanent home in 1988.

Ruth was a lifelong New York Mets fan, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, bowling, tennis and crossword puzzles.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Emma Eigenbrod, her husband Herbert, and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Homestead

Survivors include three children: Janis (Ken) Bednarcik of Piscataway, NJ, James (Theresa Tracy) Homestead of North Syracuse, William Homestead of Putney, VT; five grandchildren; Michael (Shelly) Cloonan, Melissa (Michael) Metrokotsas, Solan, Liam and Ursula Homestead, and three great grandchildren, Lydia, Zachary, and Lucas Cloonan.

In keeping with Ruth’s wishes there are no calling hours or services scheduled.
