Ronald Leo Carbery, 91, of Carbery Rd., passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning March 25, 2026, at his home.

Born on August 21, 1934, in Patterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Leo R. and Viola “Elizabeth” (Hillmann) Carbery. He attended RPI and graduated from University of Nebraska with a master’s degree in engineering and Ron also holds a master’s degree in Mathematics from Riverside College in Sacramento, CA. He married Patricia A. Braman on June 24, 1956, in Stony Creek.

Ron had a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Air Force where he had worked as a liaison of the United States Department of State before serving during the Vietnam War, retiring as a Major in 1975, earning various medals, awards, and ribbons.

Following his retirement from the military he worked for a time at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. He had also worked Voice America OCC, the Federal Communication Commission and as an OSHA Inspector. He finished his working years in deep space communications as Interim Director of Spectrum Management for NASA in Washington D.C.

After Retiring from NASA Ron wrote a book called “Vietnam Advisor and Later Career”. He also holds a patent for the first Apparatus and Method for Three-Dimensional Video that was filed on December 12, 1995.

His enjoyments included reading, go to the movies with his family, daily walks to get the mail, science, and math. He was a member of the VFW, Mensa International and the NASA Employee group.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, an infant son, Ronald Leo Carbery, Jr. and a sister, June Tremaine.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Patricia Carbery; their children: Ronda (Frank) Thomas of Stony Creek, Nadene (Eric) Zeigler of Greenville, Joseph (Robyn) Carbery of Roxie, MS, Michael (Karyn) Carbery of Stony Creek; a brother, Robert Carbery of Stony Creek; four grandchildren: Alexander Carbery, Bailey (Dylan) Griffin, Cara Carbery, and Payton Carbery; several nieces and nephews.

Private burial will be in VanAuken Cemetery, Stony Creek.
