Robert J. Gettler, 83, of Eddy Rd., passed away Monday morning, December 2, 2024 at their winter residence in Fort Edward.
Born on August 1, 1941 in Nyack, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elvira (Hayman) Gettler. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the service, he began a long career as a machinist. He worked at Pearl River Pipe Company, Love-Joy Chaplet in Hoosick Falls and later owned and operated Sunrise Screw Machine in Pearl River.
He married Jean Bruno on June 13, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Church in Spring Valley. They moved to Hadley in 1989.
Bob loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the NRA.
He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters: Patricia Lisowski, Joan, Bober and Gloria Talman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Gettler; their children: Naomi (John) Bruno of Midlothian, VA and Joseph F. (Elizabeth) Gettler II of Baldwinsville; grandchildren: Jessica Mitchner, Lauren Bruno, Joseph Gettler III, and Eva Korcazowski; brother-in-law, Dave Talman; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Holy Infancy Cemetery, Lake Luzerne.
