Dick and I started our careers together as programmer trainees in 1966 at Ciba Corp in Summit NJ. We became close because we were the youngest of the 5 trainees. We were both 20. He came from the mail room in Summit, I came from the dye lab in Fair Lawn.
Carl Henry, the machine room supervisor, jokingly referred to us as "Simon and Garfinkle" becausewe always seemed to be together. We had some fun times canoeing and I'll never forget our motorcycle trip from Parsippany to Lake Erie PA and back.
He was a great guy. We grew apart but I never forgot him. We both went on to be successful so I guess we were good draft picks.
Sorry to hear he is gone and so sorry for your loss Sherry.
