Hadley
Richard W. Pries, 79, of Riverview Dr., passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 27, 2022, at his home.
Born on June 5, 1943, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late August H. and Rosalind W. (Weissgerber) Pries He was a 1961 graduate of Floral Park Memorial High School. He was proud to have served from 1962 – 1968 in the United States Army.
Dick married Mary Kathryn “Kay” Mahoney on April 27, 1979 in Hadley.
He was employed by NY Telephone as a lineman/serviceman for over 30 years in Poughkeepsie. In 1974 he bought a camp in Hadley and converted it to a year-round home and made it their permanent home in 1991 following his retirement.
Dick was active in several community organizations including the Hadley Seniors, Van R. Rhodes Volunteer Fire Department, Unity Lodge #22 Free and Accepted Masons, Stony Creek Rod and Gun Club and the Horace D. Washburn American Legion Post 533, Corinth where he had served as commander.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother: August H. Pries III.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Kay Pries; his daughters: Dawn (Darren) Pries-Ogden of Wappinger Falls, Diane (John) DiMilia of Canaan, NH, Sharon (James) Farrell of Poughkeepsie, Christine Doyle of Clifton Park; ten grandchildren: Cody Ogden, Dara Ogden-Jenchol, Stephen, Adam, and Keith Farrell, Kathleen and Kimberly DiMilia, Lauren, Conner and Emma Doyle; three great grandchildren: Savannah Ogden, Noah Jenchol and Desmond Farrell; a sisters-in-law, Janet Pries of Florida and Carol Backus of Saratoga; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Dick’s wishes, there are no calling hours scheduled.
Private burial will be in Luzerne Cemetery, Lake Luzerne.
