Richard Klinski Obituary

Richard “Dick” Klinski, 85, peacefully passed away Monday night, October 13, 2025 at his cabin in North River, NY with his loving wife of 54 years by his side.

Born on December 27, 1939 in Meriden, CT, he was the son of Joseph and Emily (Sobol) Klinski.  Dick graduated in 1957 from Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT and in 1962 from Fairfield University.

From 1957 to 1969, Dick was a member of the Brothers of Holy Cross, CSC.  He lived in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) from 1965 to 1969 as a missionary.  On first arriving to this assignment, he studied the Bengali language for one full year at the Oriental Institute in Barisal, East Pakistan.

Within a six month period of 1971, he met, fell in love and married Laura Bry Klinski, from Wappingers Falls, NY, who he adored until his last breath. In 1977, their son, Joshua Klinski was born and Dick truly felt that day was the happiest day of his life.

Dick was predeceased by his parents and a brother, James Klinski.  He is survived by his wife, son and Josh’s life partner, David Mollon.

He taught middle school English from 1970 – 1996 in the Arlington Central School District in Dutchess County while living in Rhinebeck, NY.

Dick loved the Adirondacks where he and Laura spent their retirement.  He had so many interests, top among them was Notre Dame University football. Each year, always optimistic that this would be the year they would finally win another National Championship. Sadly, it was not meant to be in his lifetime.

He was an avid sportsman, both hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing in the Adirondacks and salt water fishing at his second home on Manasota Key, FL.  In the past 20 years, he became interested in trail cameras to capture wildlife, which he felt was the ultimate “catch and release”.  He was invited to share his expertise in both ice fishing and trail cameras at North Country sportsmen shows.  He belonged to two hunting groups – the Buckos from 1984 to present and Casey Brook Valley Club from 2011 – 2018.  He treasured all those times back in the woods with his hunting buddies.  Last but not least he loved golf.  While in the Adirondacks, he played the majority of his rounds with his wife at Cronin’s in Warrensburg.  When he could no longer play, he just loved to ride along and watch Laura play.

There will be a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Indian Lake, NY at 11 am on October 21st.  For anyone who wishes to honor Dick’s memory, donations may be sent to the Adirondack Community Outreach Center (ACOC) at PO Box 201 in North Creek, NY 12853.
