Raymond J. Baran , 71, of South Glens Falls passed away Friday , November 29th at his residence. 

Born on November 19th, 1948 in Rockville Centre, NY, he was the son of the late Constantine and Jennie ( Karniewski) Baran. He was a 1968 graduate of W.Tresper Clarke High School in Westbury,LI, NY.  In April 1969 he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Combat Engineer. Upon his discharge, he began a career as a small motor mechanic, then an auto mechanic.  

For many years, Ray worked as skilled auto mechanic and handyman in the area. He offered his carpentry skills to local contractors , and often helped friends and neighbors with construction projects or repair work.  He retired due to illness from Tri County Cab in 2017 where he worked for 14 years as a Mechanic. 

He was an avid sportsman.  He would often be found hunting or fishing in Moreau industrial park, or just out for a ride on his ATV.  His hobbies also included gardening.  

He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister Joyce D'Amico. 

Survivors include his two sons: Gregory of Chicago IL, and his wife Kezie; Douglas of Kissimmee  FL ;  a grand son Chris of Kissemmee FL; a brother Art  from Lake Luzerne, NY and his wife Lynn and their 2 sons Jeffrey of Mendon, VT and his wife Ashley ; and Matthew of Clifton Park, NY;   a niece Jennifer Lutjen of Nanuet, NY, her husband Peter, and their 2 sons Luca and Nico; a niece Andrea D'Amico of Port Washington, NY; and a nephew Bill D'Amico of Islip, NY, and his beloved cat Sneezy.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital for the wonderful care Ray received during his illness. A special thank you to Dr. Gaiotti Grubbs , PA-C Nikole Slowick (Delair) and their staff, and  Ray's patient care advocate Vickie Yattaw,RN,BSN,OSN. Also a thank you to Dr. David Judkins and staff of Adirondack Cardiology, and Dr. Ovais Ahmed and staff of Gastroenterology Associates of Northern New York.  

Internment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
