Indian Lake

Nancy A. Thorsen, 90, of State Route 28 Indian Lake, passed away Friday evening, June 6, 2025 at Elderwood, North Creek.

Born on April 15, 1935 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of the late George K. And Lucy (King) Edinger.  She was a 1953 graduate of Indian Lake Central School and a graduate of the Buffalo Bible Institute.

Nancy worked for many years in the Indian Lake Central School Cafeteria.

She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Indian Lake serving as a Sunday School teacher, a member of AWANA Club, and later attended Minerva Baptist Church. She volunteered for the Alzheimer’s group in Indian Lake and had raised money for the Juvenile Diabetes Association for many years.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband Tobey to many different places, especially Dunkin’ Donuts. She loved spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her dogs, Peanut and DD.

She was predeceased by three husbands, Rodney Pelon, William Bennett, and Tobey Thorsen; her siblings: Edna Cunniff, Patricia Tracy, George Edinger, Richard Edinger; children: Sylvia Berghela, Rodney Pelon as well as an infant son.

Survivors include her children: Tina (Bob Benton) Bennett of Indian Lake, George (Laurie) Bennett of Troy, Richard Bennett of Indian Lake, Peggy Rising of Albany, Ruby (Jimmy) Pigliavento of Schenectady; grandchildren, Billy Bennett, David Bennett, Daniel (Danielle) Bennett, Amber (Michael) Alteri; great grandchildren: Abigail, Kamilla, Nevaeh, Andrew, Caleb and Rodney; as well as several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
