Nancy L. Richmond, 87, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at The Home of the Good Shepherd, Wilton.

Born on April 10, 1933 in Crown Point, she was the daughter of the late Warren A. and Minnie S. (Smith) Lee.

Nancy was a 1950 graduate of Crown Point High School, a 1953 graduate of Union University School of Nursing within Albany Medical School and a 1955 graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.  Nancy first worked at Ticonderoga Hospital and then several years at Saratoga Hospital, the St. John Neuman Residence followed by Saratoga ARC.

She met the love of her life, Peter W. Helenek, on Happy Pappy Weekend in Saratoga. They married on November 12, 1955. They happily raised 6 children during their 38-year marriage.   Peter died in 1993.  She was blessed to meet Francis “Chillie” Richmond in 1994 who became her second husband in 1997.  Together, they enjoyed playing cards, camping, and visiting Florida in winters.  Chillie passed away in August of 2009.

Nancy was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Wilton Heritage Society.

Most recently, Nancy had been a resident at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Wilton where she had received exceptional care, especially from her buddies Jackie and Dorlisa.  She enjoyed reading, listening to her books on tape and family visits while she had been a resident there.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husbands: Peter Helenek and Francis Richmond; daughter, Susan St. John; brother, Daniel C. Lee.

Survivors include her children: Daniel Helenek, Thomas (Vicky) Helenek, Timothy Helenek, Mary (Tim) Baker and Peter (Vahe) Helenek; son-in-law, Sam St. John; six grandchildren: Theresa St. John, Matthew St. John, Alex Helenek, Amy Helenek, William Baker, Rebecca Baker; four great grandchildren, Emilia Soto St. John, Benjamin Soto St. John, Samuel St. John, Lucas St. John; a sister, Mary Gload; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, February 20th, 2021, from 10-11 a.m. at the Wilton Saratoga Elks Club, 1 Elks Lane, Saratoga Springs.  Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. at the Elks Club.

Nancy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd and Saratoga Hospital A3 Unit who showed wonderful and compassionate care in her final days.
