Lake Luzerne
Mary “Fimp" Podwirny, 84, of Lake Ave., passed away Friday morning, March 15, 2024, at her home.
Born on January 12, 1940, in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late Louis “Cubby" and Eleanor (Morey) Holland. She attended school in South Corinth.
Mary dedicated herself to serving others as a waitress at various area diners including The Luzerne Diner, Country Corner Cafe in Lake Luzerne and Hagies in Warrensburg, where she was known for serving patrons with warmth and hospitality.
Mary had a passion for cooking for her family and her senior citizen friends and community. Her home cooked meals will certainly be missed by all. On any given day, Mary could be found sipping her morning tea, engaged in the challenge of words searches, and meticulously jotting down items on her grocery list. Her kitchen was her haven, a place where she perfected cherished family recipes and fulfilling her grandchildren’s requests. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and she was often heard passionately cheering them on at their sporting events. Her other enjoyments included playing cards, chicken foot, Bingo, fishing, and spending time with her senior citizen friends at various events. In recent months, Mary found pleasure in re-connecting with her friends on Facebook who shared many wonderful memories. She was an avid New York Yankee fan whose steadfast support and enthusiasm was unwavering.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers: Louis “Chub” Holland, Jr. and William “Beaver” Holland.
Left to cherish her memory are:
Daughter, Tammy (Scott) Gram of Norfolk, VA and her children Ryan (Kelley), Nicole, Shane (Chelsey);
Son, Herbert (Debbie) Springer, Jr. of Corinth and his stepchildren, Joe and Jason;
Son, Robert (Toni) Springer, of Lake Luzerne and his children, Carter, Noah, Emma;
