Margaret Main Schoenberg April 02, 1923 - January 07, 2021

Margaret Main Schoenberg, age 97 of Des Plaines, Illinois, passed away January 7, 2021.

Born on April 2, 1923, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, she was the daughter of the late George Knowles Main and Catherine Oswald Main, and sister of the late George Oswald Main, the late Ruth Catherine Main, and David Bruce Main. She was the loving wife of Dr. Emanuel Schoenberg (deceased), mother of Paul Schoenberg and Roberta Schoenberg Johnson, and grandmother to Bennet Johnson, Aidan Schoenberg, Alex Schoenberg, Brycen Schoenberg, and Aubrey Schoenberg. Margaret is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends all over the world.

Margaret received her Ph. D in English Literature from Harvard University and was a professor at multiple universities, retiring from Kent State University in 1977. She moved to Indian Lake in the Adirondacks in 1978, living there for nearly forty years. She continued her education by earning an RN degree in 1987 and a BA in Music in 1992, and studied Indian languages and arts in Kerala, India, for three years. She was an accomplished pianist, composer, writer of fiction, gardener, and animal lover, having adopted multiple rescue animals over the years.
