Marcia Mae Miller

Marcia Mae Miller, 87, passed away Tuesday evening, March 11, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, following a long illness.

Born on Christmas Eve, 1937, in Ithaca, she was the daughter of the late Max G. and Alma L. (Coney) Hagin. She was a 1956 graduate of Lansing High School earned a certificate in cosmetology from Pauldine Beauty School in Elmira in 1975.

She married James A. Miller on July 27, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Church, Ithaca.  Jim passed away on December 3, 2016, following 57 years of marriage.

Marcia worked at Brooks Pharmacy, Cayuga Heights, as a cosmetologist, Dart’s Beauty Salon, Ithaca, and You and I Hair Salon, Cayuga Heights, before opening her own shop, Marcia’s Hair Styling in Lansing, in 1986.  She retired in 2006.

She enjoyed creating many treasured keepsakes in ceramics. She also enjoyed bowling, country music, her cats and loved her time spent at their cottage on Cayuga Lake.

She was past president of the Ithaca Cortland Cosmetologist Association, a member of the NYS Cosmetologist Association, past president of the Asbury Cemetery Association and a certified facilitator for the Look Good Feel Better Program, a cancer support program dedicated to restoring confidence and self-esteem of people during cancer treatment.

She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband James Miller; her brother, Max Hagin, Jr..

She is survived by her sons: James A  Miller, Jr. of Spencer and Michael J. (Patty) Miller of Greenfield Center; grandchildren: Kelly (Terry) Mills of Cassatt, South Carolina, Alyssa Miller of Hadley, Kacy Miller of Lansing,  Michael (Amanda) Miller, Jr. of Wilton, Emily Miller of Fulton, Amberlee Buckley, Dayna Marie Buckley; Audrey Quinlivan of Newfield; great grandchildren: Cody, Hannah, Bryce, Lilliana, Bailey, Riley, Everlee, James and a great grandson soon to be born; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were conducted on March 14, 2025 at Saratoga National Cemetery.
