Lawrence Waite, a longtime resident of Hadley, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on November 8th, 2024 at the age of 87. Born on April 10, 1937, Larry was the son of Walter and Edna (Harrington) Waite. He graduated from Hadley-Luzerne High School and worked at the International Paper Company in Corinth for over 40 years.
A passionate outdoorsman, Larry particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing, and frequently shared his love and knowledge of the outdoors with his family and friends. He had a remarkable way of making friends and showing kindness to pretty much anyone he met, whether they be known or unknown to him. His wit and keen sense of humor (with just the right amount of sarcasm mixed in), left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He will be remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering support for those he loved, and his penchant for telling great stories of his adventures in the woods or on the water. Those who knew him will deeply miss that slight sparkle which came to his eye right before he was about to say something particularly clever.
Larry leaves behind his wife of 45 years Sandra Waite, his children Mike Waite, Vicky Hall (Tim Hall), Karen Fish (Steve Fish), his step-children Laurie Mayer, Jason Towers (Cristy Towers), 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, his sister, Gail Kader, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15th at 11am at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 543 Glen St., Glens Falls, where family and friends are invited to celebrate his life.
A private burial will be held on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
