Tupper Lake
Larry Johnson, 73, passed away Tuesday morning, December 31, 2024 at his home.
Larry was born in the Bronx to Richard and Mary Johnson.
Larry was a character who had no trouble communicating with anyone. His facial expressions let you know exactly what he was thinking. He spent many years at the Walker Rd. house in Long Lake, which is where he met Mindy and Patty, who would go on to be Larry’s advocate for many years. When that closed, he moved to Mix Rd. in Long Lake and then went on to 61 Haymeadow in Tupper Lake when Mix Rd. closed in 2023. Even though he moved from Long Lake, former staff made the trip to visit him occasionally. He was funny, loved to laugh and would propel his wheelchair from window to window to stay in the sunlight. He liked to be pampered and liked his sweet treats. Larry fought illness during an extended stay at AMC, but was able to return to his Haymeadow home prior to passing with staff members around him. Larry spent the earlier years of his life at Willowbrook; however, was moved to a different faciality not long before Willowbrook was closed down. He was a fighter and strong willed.
A graveside service will be conducted at a date and time to be announced in Long Lake Cemetery, Long Lake.
