Hadley
Kathryn A. Garofalo, 92, of Rockwell St., passed away Saturday morning, May 17, 2025, at Glens
Falls Hospital.
Born on January 16, 1933, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Charles and
Christine (Carlo) McDonald.
Kathryn worked for over 25 years at several nursing homes as activities director in Rockford, IL
and Glens Falls at Eden Park. In later years she volunteered her time at the Hadley Luzerne
Public Library, and the Hadley Luzerne Historical Society, both in the community in which she
lived for the past 40 years.
She loved her home in the Adirondacks, knitting, sewing, crocheting, painting, writing, reading,
watching Jeopardy and The Golden Girls, playing the piano and autoharp.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Arthur and Robert.
Survivors include her children: David Garofalo of Scotia, James Garofalo of Hadley, Terese (Mike)
Howard of Schenectady, Peter (Linda) Garofalo of Wauwatosa, WI, Susan (Dan) Waterhouse of
Lake Luzerne; grandchildren: Kaitlin (Greg), Max, James, Mary (James), Peter, Matthew and
Jack; great grandsons: Henry and Theo; many nieces, nephews, cousins, old friends and
colleagues.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Brewer Funeral Home,
Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
