Jon J. Deuel, 71, of Links Ave., passed away Wednesday morning, May 23, 2018 at Albany Medical Center.

Born on December 30, 1946 in Corinth, he was the son of the late George M. and Jeanette (Stanton) Deuel. He was a graduate of Hadley Luzerne Central School.

He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 earning the Marksman (M-14) medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  

Following his honorable discharge from the Army he married Karen S. Hastings on February 22, 1969 at Rockwell Falls Presbyterian Church, Lake Luzerne.

Jon was employed as a machine operator at International Paper Company in Corinth for 37 years. Following his retirement from the mill, he worked as a grounds keeper at Bend of the River Golf Course and for the Town of Hadley at the Recycling Center. He was a member of International Paper Quarter Century Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and having coffee at Stewart’s.

He was predeceased by his twin brother, Don Deuel.

He was the beloved husband of Karen Deuel; loving Dad of six children: Terry (Laurie) Deuel of Cortland, Tammy Morrison of Glens Falls, Jon (Patricia) Deuel, Jr. of South Glens Falls, Amber (Tom) Lynch of Glens Falls, Nicole (Michael) Gordon of Queensbury, Ron (Jami) Deuel of Lake Luzerne and the adoring “Poppy” of 18 grandchildren.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.

Funeral services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Dean Brown officiating.

Friends are invited to join the family following the funeral service at the Luzerne-Hadley Fire Department.

Burial with military honors will be held 2:30 Wednesday, June 6 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
