John "Jack" Paul Studer, Sr., 95, of Harrisburg Rd., passed away peacefully at his home Monday afternoon, September 1, 2025.
Born on June 16, 1930, in Perkinstown, NJ. The family moved to Poughkeepsie. Jack's first job was as a Western Union carrier on a bicycle bought from a parts list at Haber's store.
Jack was the son of the late Joseph Paul and Catherine (Newirth) Studer. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School where he played the trombone in the marching ban as well as the Bass fiddle in the band.
John served in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, John began his 35 years employment at IBM, retiring as a manager in 1986. At that time, he and his wife, Gloria, made Stony Creek their home.
He loved his family, animals and his son's crazy ideas. He always said, "One day my ship will come in, and we will have a farm with horses, cows, mini bikes, boats." He made our dreams come true.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Gloria Studer; a son, Joseph Studer; his siblings: Helen, Eleanor, Joseph and Francis.
Survivors include two daughters: Carol (Michael) Tompkins of Poughkeepsie, Susan (Glen) Russo of Carmel; two sons: John Studer, Jr. and Mark Studer both of Stony Creek; grandchildren: Lauren, Justin, Kathleen, Glen, Elisabeth, Michael, and Fatima; one great grandson, Hunter.
Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Glassbrook Cemetery.
