John T. Breen

I have super fond memories of Mr. Breen - just a sweetheart of a guy, great guidance counselor, cared about and knew his students so well. Supported the choices we made while gently guiding us. I came to appreciate his dedication even more when my own daughters were headed for college without benefit of guidance counselors who had the broad knowledge of available schools and commitment to each student’s own personality that MY guidance counselor had. Deepest condolences to his family - he touched many lives. RIP

Mr. Breen was warm and helpful to me and so many of my peers at YHS. His wife Barbara was my guidance counselor and I have wonderful memories of her as well. Barbara was a mentor to me and I was blessed to know her in my formative years. Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." That applies to Mr. Breen perfectly. My memories of him center around his kindness and his smile.  RIP. 

Condolences to Barbara and the family on the loss of a truly kind and gentle man, who was outstanding as a professional in his field and an inspiration to those who worked with him. Had the privilege of being in the adjacent office for 10 years in Yorktown,  got to know him fairly well as a person and an administrator.  He offered so much to many people.  He will be missed. RIP.
