Lake Luzerne

Joan K. Hall, 84, formerly of Scofield Road, passed away Tuesday evening, January 26, 2021 at the Glens Falls Center following a long illness.

Born on February 1, 1936 in the town of Day, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Helen (Weldon) Johnson.  She was a graduate of Hadley Luzerne Central School and Albany Business School.

She married Theron C. “Ted” Hall on February 23, 1963 at the Church of the Holy Infancy, Lake Luzerne. Ted died on May 6, 2003 following 40 years of marriage.

Joan worked as a secretary at Finch Paper Co. and at General Electric in Hudson Falls.  She was elected as the Lake Luzerne Town Clerk in 1984 and served in that position until her retirement in 2002.  

She enjoyed needlepoint, reading, music and gardening.

Joan was a member of the NYS Town Clerks Association, past member of the Hadley Luzerne Historical Society and Rockwell Falls Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Carrie Jane Hall who died on Oct. 16, 1987; two brothers: Rollin E. Johnson and Samuel Johnson; a brother-in-law, Ronald Butchino.

Survivors include her sister, Diane Butchino of Hadley; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Johnson of Day and Serena Johnson of Saratoga Springs; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private burial will be in Lynwood Cemetery, Hadley.
