James D. (Jamie) Mitchell
January 8, 1986 - November 23, 2024
Lake George, NY
Jamie Mitchell left this world much too soon due to injuries sustained in a car accident Saturday night. Son, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, and above all else, father. Jamie brought laughs and love to everyone who knew him. He was famous for his impressions and quick with a joke or comment that would have you laughing for hours after it was delivered.
Jamie was born January 8, 1986 to F. John and Carol B. Mitchell of Raquette Lake, NY. He attended Indian Lake Central School. He learned his trade of auto body repair while working for his brother at Joyce’s Auto Body and went on to operate his own shop. He worked at The Body Shop at North Country Subaru for the last 10 years. A brilliant mechanic, he also repaired cars in his own garage and everywhere anyone needed him to be. He worked hard, but above all, he was able to spend time with his family and dedicated his life to Kaydance and Keygean.
Jamie was a member of North Queensbury Volunteer Fire and previously Indian Lake Volunteer Fire. He was still involved in many fundraisers for ILVFD, watching pigs rotate over a fire being his favorite event. His passions included golfing, riding his motorcycle, the Snap-On truck and visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota with his sister.
Jamie was predeceased by his grandparents, father, brother Joseph and best bud Charles the Doberman. He leaves behind his most precious treasures: His children, Kaydance(19) of Rapid City, SD and Keygean(16)of Lake George NY and their mother, Gina. In addition to his mother and children, he leaves his sister, Christine Mitchell of North Creek, brother Kenneth (Jane) Hinckley of Blue Mtn Lake, brother John (Jodi) Mitchell of Otter Lake and their children, Brittany, Shaun, Erica, Katie, Sydney, Morgan, Benjamin, Aaron, Elizabeth and Jaelyn. And their children, Mason, Jackson, Jameson, Maccallen, Charlotte, Layla, Violet and Charlie. In-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews are countless. His super tight family gang included James and Rhonda Gereau, Candice, Justin and Riley Husson, AJ and Kinsley Gereau. Most especially, his sister-in-law and co-conspirator Courtney (John) Boya and their children Joseph, James, Sandra and Theo. Best friends John, Deb, Albert, Ben and Drew. Special friend Jo Anna. Jamie touched so many lives. Everyone he met became a friend and this obituary could fill an entire book if they all were listed. You know who you are and know that he loved you all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Indian Lake Fire Dept on Saturday, November 30th at 11 am and will last until every one of us is laughing instead of crying because Jamie would expect nothing less of us. Burial will be private at a later date.
A fund is set up for his children and donations can be made on our GoFundMe page or mailed to Kaydance Mitchell C/O Albert Kiss at PO Box 333, Old Forge, NY 13420.
