Hadley
James M. Hughes, 76, of 3rd Ave., passed away Thursday evening, July 2, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Born on October 15, 1949, in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late James E. and Anne M. (Cameron) Hughes. He was a graduate of Essex Catholic School in Newark, NJ.
On June 16, 1972, he married Maureen Halpin. They recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.
Jim worked at Verizon in Glens Falls for 20 years as a 911 operator.
He enjoyed spending time with family and watching all sports on television including baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and soccer.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Anne McLean.
Survivors include his wife, Maureen Hughes; children: James E. (Renee) Hughes of Queensbury and Allison Hughes of Hadley; grandchildren: Caitlin Hughes, Alyssa Hughes, Britney Hughes and Jasmine Fitzgerald; great grandchildren: Paisley Hughes, Callen Sayeed, Johnathan Bardin; siblings: Arlene (Tim) Gorny, Gary (Graciela) Hughes, Marilyn Martin, Mary (James) Houman; a brother-in-law, John McLean; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hadley Cemetery, Hadley.
