Lake Luzerne
Hilda J. Ryle, 84, of River Road, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born on August 25, 1936 in Wilton, she was the daughter of the late Jelmer and Laura (Morrissey) Salmonson.
Hilda had worked at A & P Supermarket as a meat cutter and later began a rewarding 42-year career as a L.P. N. at Wilton Developmental Center.
In 2010, she married Leslie Sutliff in Lake Luzerne.
Hilda enjoyed camping, gardening and shopping. She will be remembered as a happy, loyal and a wonderfully caring individual.
She was predeceased by her parents; her former husbands, John M. Chase and Edward Ryle; four brothers: Clifford Salmonson, Edward Salmonson, Richard Salmonson and Alfred Salmonson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 10 years, Leslie Sutliff; sons: John (Cheryl) Chase of Thurman, Jeff Knickerbocker of Lake Luzerne; daughters: Juanita Smith of Ocala, FL and Tammy Funk, of Florida; Step-daughters: Kimberly (Wayne) Howe, Sheila Sutliff, Denise (Jim) Murphy; step sons: Thomas Ryle and John Ryle; a sister: Alma (Roger) Woodcock of Glens Falls; a brother: Gerald Salmonson of Wilton; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Gurn Springs Cemetery, Wilton.
