Indian Lake
Hilda E. Goodwill a resident of Elderwood, North Creek, went into the arms of the Lord Monday April 26, 2021. She was 100 years young!
Born on July 5, 1920 she was the daughter of John W. Eldridge and Elizabeth (Girard) Eldridge.
Having lived in Indian Lake for all her youth, she graduated from Indian Lake Central School and enjoyed her high school years very much.
Hilda moved to Troy, N.Y. in 1942 to work at the Watervliet Armory during World War II. She then worked for Berk Ray Corporation until her retirement in 1970.
She married long-time friend, Edward H. Goodwill on May 18,1975 at the First Methodist Church in Boca Raton, Fla.
They divided their time between the Albany area, Florida visits and summer camp in Indian Lake. When Edward died in1984 Hilda moved back to Indian Lake to be near her family.
Her greatest pleasures were playing cards, Bingo, going to New York City for the theater and other shows, and her memberships in both the Senior Citizens Club and The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1392.
Hilda was predeceased by her parents, her husband as well as by her three brothers Daniel, Russell and Robert Eldridge and her three sisters Gretchen Toweres (Ollie) Hunt, Ivetta (Burlin) McCane and Betty (Bernard) Mahoney
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, which she always enjoyed spending time with.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterford, N.Y at the family’s convenience.
