Frank W. Langr III (Sonny), passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Luzerne NY on September 2, 2021. Frank was 87 years old but was fond of pointing out that he was “really only 73…. in base 12”. He was a graduate of Northville High School (1952), S.U.N.Y. Oneonta (1965 ) and Fairfield University (1973). In his chosen field of mathematics he was a teacher for many years in the Bedford Central School District dedicating his energy toward making math relevant and interesting for his students. Even in retirement Frank continued to show his commitment to education with his “newspaper clipping service”, distributing information and materials to local schools and libraries. He was a proud veteran of the U.S Army (1956-58) and a member of the Fish House Masonic Lodge #298.
Growing up in Northville NY, Sonny was very active in sports, excelling in basketball, soccer, and wowing the girls with his water skiing prowess. He will also be remembered for his work at Langr’s Market and as the Postmaster in Northville. Frank took great joy in guiding his sons and nephews on fishing and camping trips in the Adirondacks, boating and tubing with his granddaughters, and attending concerts and ballets at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Frank is the son of Frank J. Langr II and Pauline Beader, and is survived by his wife (Jean), two sons ( Frank Jr. / Kathleen and David / Kathryn), five granddaughters (Caitlin, Meaghan, Maddie, Kristen, and Molly) and sister (Mary Ann).
