Francis John Marsicovetere, 85, of Corinth, NY, passed away on September 19, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Frank was born on October 16, 1938 to Francis and Mary (Bove) Marsicovetere in Manhattan, NY. He was one of six siblings (Angelina, Ann, John, Mary, Daniel). Frank came from humble beginnings in the heart of Greenwich Village. He grew up fast, and life was not easy for him, but he always demonstrated a deep love for his friends and family. He made some choices that were not in his best interest, but he worked hard to make amends for those mistakes. During his incarceration, Frank became a Christian and brought many along with him to find faith. He dedicated his time there to serving others. For example, he was passionate about helping inmates to get back on their feet, and worked tirelessly to find companies that would donate suits and shoes for the men upon their release from prison. He was a man of many talents. He played the saxophone and piano beautifully, and he enjoyed sharing his talent with others. He was very skilled in his ability to refinish antique furniture. He had a special place in his heart for animals, and he was accomplished in his work with guide dogs for the blind. Frank was an excellent cook as well, and it brought him great joy to make food for others. If you didn't like Italian food you were out of luck, because that's exactly what you were going to get.
You would never see Frank without his fedora or some type of leather apparel. He loved to make people smile, even during times of illness or great pain, and he loved his family very much. Frank looked forward to Sunday dinners with family. Frank cherished his cat Bella more than anything, and he loved to tell stories about her. He was everyone’s biggest fan, but if he wasn’t a fan, you knew it. He enjoyed bossing people around, but he also enjoyed doting on them. He was always good for a compliment, and you could take it to heart because he had no problem telling you what he thought about you, good or bad. He was one of a kind, and he will be missed. There is a sense of emptiness without him, but also comfort knowing he is no longer in pain.
Frank was predeceased by his father Frank and his mother Mary Marsicovetere, his sisters Angelina Chiarelli and Mary Briglio, and his brother Daniel Marsicovetere. He is survived by his son Rick (Llema) Marsi, grandson Ryan Marsi, step-granddaughter Stephannie Marie Marsi, his sister Ann Coppola, brother John Marsicovetere, and other relatives including nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at Church of the Nations (6087 State Hwy 9N, Hadley, NY 12835) on October 5, 2024 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a cause Frank felt strongly about.
