I am just now seeing that Eris passed. My family and I extend our condolences. Our first camp was at the bottom of the Lake Store. What an amazing experience that was growing up! Eris was a tough cookie, but also incredibly kind. I have the best memories of walking the path up to the store to get penny candies and the best PB&J on a roll. While we never knew Max, we got to know Bill quite well and the 2 of them together were a great team. I’ll never forget our Ice cream nights at the counter, and then, as I got older and married, walking up for some snacks and drinks for the boat. Eris’ work ethic and pride in her family’s business was evident from the moment you met her until I’m sure, the day she passed. I’ll always remember her kindness to me and my family (after showing us some tough love, that is!) The Lake Store and Smith’s Cottages will forever live on in the hearts of many, including ours.

From the year of my birth, 1967 till now, I have gone up and spent the summers or part of them at Indian Lake. And nothing was better than a trip to the lake store. For an ice cream at the counter, or a treat of some kind. Memories of Eris is smiling. Face behind the counter will always cheer me up. I’m quite sure she will be missed.

I worked for Eris at Smith's Cottages and the Lake Store, fellowshipping at First Baptist Church together, and working in the PTA with her. She had a kind heart and helped many people out when there was a true need. My condolences to the family.

I worked for Eris when Bill was bad with Donald, I was trying to get Her to eat, She didn't feel like eating. She told Me leave the hamburg soup alone it was great, We talked about Her being My family's Sunday school teacher for years, when She went on vacation She always brought back something for all Us kids. She got out Family tree papers and said see You are one of the old families related to Me, She didn't forget! She was one of the best!
