Schroon Lake
(Emma) Marie DeMarsh passed away Thursday morning, May 29, 2025 in her beloved home surrounded by her loving family.
Marie was born on September 20th, 1944 in Lumberton, North Carolina to her parents, Paul A. Beck and Emma Elizabeth (Dawson) Beck. Her family moved when she was in the 7th grade to Schroon Lake. She fell in love with the town, the lake, and the community. She proudly told everyone she met near and far where Schroon Lake was and invited them to visit sometime.
She married Garry B. DeMarsh on April 8th, 1965, and they soon after started a family. They settled in Schroon Lake, where they would build their home in 1977 and happily remained until she passed.
Marie loved to travel whether it was to Maine, Alexandria Bay, Myrtle Beach, to other states to visit relatives, or just around the area to watch her grandsons’ sporting events. Marie also loved camping, whether it was in a tent, pop-up, or the camp they built together in Blue Mountain Lake with friends Tom and Diane McNally, and Clifford and Vicki Strohmeyer.
Marie worked at many places in Schroon Lake, and retired from Glens Falls National Bank, where she was employed for 27 years. She and Garry also owned their own store, the OutPost Trading Post in South Schroon for 15 years. She loved working with the public and loved to talk. She genuinely cared about people, and liked to get to know everyone she had a chance to.
Ultimately, her favorite thing was being a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Garry, her daughters, Denise (Chris) Paradis, Jodi (Mark Stevens) Reutzel, and her grandsons Lance (Shayna) Paradis, Eric (Dylan) Paradis, and Ryan Reutzel, and her brother, John (Rosalind) Beck, and her sisters, Linda (George) Java, JoAnn (Joe) Storey, and six great-grandchildren and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Schroon Lake Community Church.
Burial will be in Cedar River Cemetery, Indian Lake at 3 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025 followed by a reception at the Parker Benton American Legion Post, Indian Lake.
