Edith E. Smith, 88, of South Hill Road, passed away Tuesday evening, February 2, 2021 at her home.

Born on October 24, 1932 in Murnau, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Imelda (Poellein) Wiedemann.  She attended Heidelberg University.

She married Maj. Raymond W. Smith on March 4th, 1952 in Augsburg, Germany.  They moved to Long Lake in 1976.  Maj. Smith (Ret.) died on January 6, 2016.

Edith, while at Pease, McGuire, Tinker, and Dover Air Bases was a long-time active member of the American Red Cross, and Gray Ladies. She was also a member of the Family Services organization within the Air Force community and served as Coordinator for many years.  She was a Military Wife of the Year Selectee in 1971 by the Military Airlift Commander (MAC) at Maguire Air Force Base.

Following their move to Long Lake, Edith, along with her late husband, owned and operated Long Lake Realty as a Broker and Real Estate Agent.

Edith was an active member of St. Henry’s Church and a member of the Secular Franciscan Order as well as the Catholic Daughters of America.  She loved her Church and Church family very much.

Survivors include her sons: Raymond (Judith) Smith, Jr. of Levittown, PA, Teofilo (Debbie) Smith of Westampton, NJ; grandchildren: Ryan (Erin), Joshua (Jenny), Bridgette (Andrew); step grandchildren: Joey, Kurt, Duncan; great grandchildren: Atticus, Emmeline; step great grandchildren: Joey, Samuel, James, Mattie, Faith, Emelia.

Graveside services will be conducted in the spring at Long Lake Cemetery.
