Corinth
Douglas L. Wester, Sr., 79, of Pine St., passed away Saturday afternoon, May 14, 2022, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born on September 8, 1942, in Corinth, he was the son of the late Ernest and Frances (Lyford) Wester. He was a lifelong resident of Corinth and attended Corinth Central School.
Doug worked at International Paper lumber camps following his high school years and later was a trapper for NYSDEC. He then began working at Petruzzo Products in Corinth processing mulch. He retired in 1993 after over twenty years with the company.
He married Elvita Collard on September 10, 1966, at the Baptist Church in Corinth. Mrs. Wester passed away on August 25, 2020, following nearly 54 years of marriage.
Doug was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening.
He was a life member of the NRA, Saraspa Rod and Gun Club, and was a board member of the Corinth Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children: Pastor Ernest (Anita) Wester of Corinth, Cindy Thew of Hudson Falls, Douglas L. (Rebecca) Wester, Jr.; grandchildren: Joe (Crystal) O’Shea, Zachary Thew, Douglas Wester III, Ethan Thew, Owen Thew, Elijah Wester; one great-granddaughter, Paisley Thew; siblings: Dale (Janet) Wester of Corinth, Trina (Ron Hayes) Hamm of Corinth, Tracy Weaver of Wilton; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Corinth Free Methodist Church, 20 Hamilton Ave., Corinth.
Private burial will be in Minerva Baptist Cemetery, Cemetery.
