Indian Lake
Douglas M. Johnson, 86, of NYS Route 30, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, May 10, 2021.
Born on August 8, 1934 in Ticonderoga, he was the son of the late Martin and Hilda (Ross) Johnson.
Doug served in the United States Army and was stationed in Munich, Germany and Fort Ord, California.
He married Mary F. Sanders on April 25, 1963 in Canajoharie. Mary passed away on January 10, 2017.
Doug worked for many years for the Laborers’ Local 157, Schenectady. He retired in the mid 1990’s.
He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the Indian Lake United Methodist Church
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Mary Johnson; an infant brother, Bruce Johnson; two sons-in-law, William Westbrook and Alan Chatterton.
Survivors include his six children: Barbara Westbrook of North Creek, William (Marybeth) Johnson of Apex, NC, John (Charlotte) Johnson of Huger, SC, Martin (Aecio Rodrigues DeSousa) Johnson of Palm Springs, CA, Gary (Susan) Johnson of Indian Lake, Amy (John) Sturges of Indian Lake; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister: Donna Benton of Indian Lake; one brother: David Johnson of Indian Lake; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Miller Funeral Home, 6357 NYS Rte. 30, Indian Lake.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Nina Dickinson, officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar River Cemetery, Indian Lake.
