David E. Yates, 78, of Corscadden Rd., passed away Thursday evening, September 14, 2023, at his home following a long illness.

Born on April 17, 1945, in Danbury, CT, he was the son of the late James and Charlotte (Karrmann) Yates. David earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Connecticut.

He worked on his family dairy farm in Connecticut and then in Hudson Falls.  He moved to Indian Lake in the early 1970’s and worked as a carpenter and contractor.

He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially hiking, canoeing, hunting, hobby farming and exploring.  He also was an avid reader and loved to tinker.

He was predeceased by his parents, an infant daughter, Heidi Lynn Yates and a brother, James Yates.

Survivors include his children: Christine (Patrick) Blake of Columbia, SC, Heather Yates of Belleview, FL, Sharon (Richard Schloss) Berg of Wevertown, Alecia Butler of Belleview, FL and Nathaniel Yates of Indian Lake; grandchildren: Jessi, Ty, Montana, Savanna, Garion, Alexandra, Skylar, Trinity, Tristan, Thomas, Samuel, Gonzalo and Josiah; great grandchild, Brailyn; his former wife and mother of his children: Patricia (Reynolds) Dunn of Belleview, FL; a sister-in-law, Jan Yates of Hudson Falls; several nieces and nephews.
