Lake Luzerne
Bruce W. Podwirny, 80, passed away Wednesday morning, May 27, 2026 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born on January 1, 1946, he was the son of the late Walter and Margarette (Stevens) Podwirny.
He was a graduate of Hadley Luzerne Central School. Bruce served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He worked for the Town of Lake Luzerne Highway Department, serving many years as Highway Superintendent.
He loved the outdoors and had been an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, motorcycle enthusiast and bird watcher.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Walter Podwirny; a sister, Karen Kenyon; and his former wife, Mary Podwirny.
Survivors include a daughter, Michele (John) Nichols of Moreau; a son, Michael (Alicia) Podwirny of Lake Luzerne; three granddaughters: Colleen Podwirny, Heather (Brandon) Podwirny, Anika Podwirny; one great grandson; a brother, Denny (Joann) Podwirny of Kingston; a sister-in-law, Diane Podwirny of Queensbury; step-brothers: James and Charles Krywy; several nieces, nephews.
Private services with military honors will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
