Stony Creek
Beulah B. “Shortie” Dunkley, 86, of Swears Rd., passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, July 6, 2024.
Born on February 2, 1938, in Glens Falls, she was the oldest child of Jason and Pansy (Eastwood) Ellis.
Beulah worked for 30 years as the head of housekeeping/laundry at Saratoga Hospital as well as various other jobs. She had a very strong work ethic. She retired from the hospital in 2006 when she was diagnosed with cancer.
She enjoyed playing BINGO, bowling, and traveling with her long-time partner, Hugh Sonner. She was a member of the William J. Varney American Legion Post Auxiliary. She had a wonderful sense of humor that she maintained right until her final days.
She was predeceased by her parents; a daughter Veronica Neidrich and a son, Vance Dunkley; 2 granddaughters Heather and Samantha Dunkley, a grandson, Danny Wisell; siblings: Isabella Ellis, Alice Vanderwarker, Pamela Lemelin, Jake Ellis, Anthony Ellis, Andrew Ellis; her partner, Hugh Sonner.
Survivors include her children: Valerie (Ron) Brooks of Stony Creek, Sam (Kathy) Dunkley of Hinsdle, NH, Vanesa (Gene Troxell) Isakson of Crisfield, MD; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Beulah’s wishes, there are no services scheduled.
