Andrew Smith Obituary

Andrew Paul Smith, 58, of Rote 30, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born on August 4, 1967, in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, he was the son of Beryl Smith and the late Peter Smith.

Andrew worked as a mechanic and bus driver for Indian Lake Central School.  He enjoyed working on his motorcycle and was an avid fan of his 1960’s Jaguar.  People in Indian Lake will remember him driving his Russian Urual, sidecar motorcycle.  He had worked as a whitewater rafting guide and had trained in NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership Schools) in Utah.  He acquired a certificate from the IAKP as a Kambo Practitioner, working hard with indigenous medicines for people.

He was a wonderful and devoted father.  When he and Kate first met, he was a full-time dad to his four children.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn “Kate” Smith; his mother, Beryl Smith of the UK; children: Vincent, Fredrick, Macie, Arlo, Ezra, Nico, Tallulah, and Harper Smith; a brother, Steven Smith; his henai mother in Hawaii, Emily Naeole, who loved him like her own son.

Andrew was a character and was beloved by all who met him.  He loved to paint and create Orgone, an energy that he understood by Sigmund Freud and many the fathers of psychology.  He tried his best and would eventually come to the truth when he faltered.  He was our Knight at the Round Table.  A man of honor and integrity. A man of his word.  He was brave and wore his heart on his sleeve.  He never cared for the worldly path.  He was constantly on a quest and search for the heart of the matter, creating bridges where there were once gaps.  He made sense to our world and we held him in the utmost regard as head of the Smith Clan.
