Vincent Peteley, 86
Staten Island native moved to Lake Luzerne, N.Y.
Vincent Peteley died peacefully at home in Lake Luzerne, N.Y., on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018. He was 86.
Vincent was born and raised in Midland Beach, Staten Island, and attended New Dorp High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War, stationed on the U.S.S. Oglethorpe.
Upon returning to Midland Beach, Vincent began his career as a wire lather for Local 46, N.Y.C.
Vincent married his sweetheart, Betty Barile, in 1957 and together started their family, raising their four daughters, his pride and joy, in Midland Beach.
They moved to Lake Luzerne in 2002, where they enjoyed the quietness of their country house. Vincent and Betty celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, and sadly he passed the following day.
Outside of work, Vincent enjoyed playing cards and coaching softball. Vincent especially enjoyed playing the ponies, and was a frequent visitor to Saratoga Race Track during horse season.
But Vincent's greatest joy came from his time with his grandchildren. He would take them all to Forest Lake to go fishing, where for years they would catch and release what they all believed to be the same Sunny, then celebrate their catch with an ice cream cone.
Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Anna, and siblings, Veronica and Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; his daughters, Laurie, Linda, Lisa (Anthony), and Nancy (Tim); his grandchildren, Jenna, Frank, Vincent, Bruno, Nick, Joseph, Louis, and T.J., and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hanley Funeral Home. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary, 560 Lincoln Ave., at 10:15 a.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
