Lake Luzerne
Robert J. “Bob” Mayo, 87, of Old Stage Rd., passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home.
Born on May 24, 1931 in Nyack, he was the son of the late Salvator and Wilhelmina (Wolf) Mayo.
Bob owned and operated Mayo’s Hotel in Congers, NY for many years prior to his retirement in 1990. He had been coming to Lake Luzerne for many years for vacations and hunting trip and made it his permanent home following retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying much of what the Adirondacks offer, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding his four-wheeler and snowmobile. He also enjoyed music.
Bob was a 60-year member of Congers Alert Hook and Ladder and had served as chief. He was a member of the Lake Luzerne Rod and Gun Club and the South Warren Snowmobile Club.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Lucinda Mayo; his long time partner, Irene Quill; two step-sons, Gordon and Bruce.
Survivors include his children: Sharon Delfini, Kevin (Nancy) Mayo, Emile Mayo, Stephanie Mayo, John Mayo; step-daughter, Carla Davis; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Friends may call Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
