With great sadness our Dad, Ralph L. Carvajal passed away at the home of his son and daughter with his loving family by his side on Tuesday evening, January 29, 2019.

Ralph was born In Flushing, NY on May 23, 1927 to Ralph and Hulda (Harbison) Carvajal.

He joined the US Army Air Force on February 4, 1946.  He served in the 20thAir Force and flew on B17’s and B 29’s.  Dad was stationed on Guam with the 3rdPhotographic Reconnaissance Squadron.  As a bombsight mechanic, he was responsible for condition, auto flight control and equipment aboard 15 planes.  He did all necessary maintenance and repair work to bombsight and all other flight control equipment.

Dad was co-founder of Cross Island Motorcycle Club 65 years ago. The club is still active to date. Dad owned and operated Cycles of Bellerose in Queens, NY.

Dad married the love of his life, Lorraine P. Carvajal on Dec. 30, 1951.  They lived in Westbury, Long Island for many years prior to moving to Hadley in 1977 with their youngest son, Richard.  In 1989, they moved to Indialantic, Florida where they had 24 wonderful years before moving back to Hadley on November 23, 2013 to be close to the family.

He loved to ride motorcycles, boating, and taking long rides with mom in their various cars through the years.  Dad and Mom joined the Miata Car Club and were active members for many years.

Dad was able to enjoy his last few years camping in our camper at Sacandaga Camp Ground and at our camp we purchased in 2015.  He loved being in the woods and taking his favorite new wheels, Ezgo Golf Cart down to the lake and rides on the trails with his copilot, Rascal.
