“I would like to leave you with a memory of I have of Neil from 51 years ago when he and I were fifth grade teachers at Hadley-Luzerne Central School.
It was the spring of 1967, and I was very pregnant with my first born son. It was a hot May, and it was difficult for me to endure the sun and heat of the playground. Neil graciously agreed to take my playground duty for me in exchange for me working with some of his students helping them to catch up on their work in the shade of the classroom. He said that he preferred to be outside anyway. His generosity allowed me to work those last two weeks of May and to cover the rest of the fifth grade curriculum with my students. I have always been grateful for that.
My condolences to all of Neil’s family and friends. From Jacqueline Philips”
