Mary Flanagan Obituary

Mary E. Flanagan died peacefully while with her husband Thomas at home on June 18th, 2018 in Hadley, NY at the age of 65.

Mary is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, Michael Dinolfo of New York, NY and Joseph Dinolfo of Marvin, NC; grandchildren, Isadora and Sebastian Dinolfo of New York, NY, and Madeline Dinolfo of Marvin, NC, siblings, Loyd Collins of Laurens, SC, Ann Studer of Lake Wylie, SC and Elizabeth Collins of Rock Hill, SC, and dog, Buddy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Dorothy Collins, as well as her dogs, Sunshine, Bailey, Miss Buff and Elsie.

Mary was born on December 2nd, 1952 in Texas to Loyd and Dorothy Collins. She was a graduate of Newfield High School in Selden, NY. She married Michael Dinolfo (deceased, March 19th, 2018) in 1976 and had two sons, Michael and Joseph. She then met the love of her life, Thomas in 2000 and they married in 2004 and moved from Long Island to Hadley, NY

She worked in Human Resources at UPS and retired in 2008 after 20 years with the Company.

Her children remember her as a kind and gentle mother and grandmother that never judged them, was always there for them and who encouraged them to pursue their goals, no matter what they were.

Mary was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending her retirement harvesting plants from seed both in her house and greenhouse and watching them grow outside. She was able to name every plant in each one of her gardens and could tell you its origin.

Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, visiting and receiving visits from her grandchildren, and holding onto family traditions. She lived for her family, both close and distant, and loved her dogs.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations The Homeless Garden Project. Condolences can be sent to http://homelessgardenproject.org/.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff, especially the Dr. Yun and the oncology staff, of Glens Falls Hospital who provided Mary and her family with compassionate care.
