John Richard Olson, 74 of Corinth NY passed away Wednesday February 28, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving son Douglas and Daughter-in-law Sandi holding his hands.

Born November 20, 1943 in Albany NY, he was the son of the late William Gustav Olson and Helen Marie(Millard) Olson.

John was a graduate of the Albany Public School Sixteen. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1960-1962 before being honorably discharged.

He was a lifelong resident of the Capital District and Adirondack Areas.

John worked as a well-respected Master Electrician and Mechanical Specialist. He was self-employed as Olson Mechanical Services, as well as being retained by various companies during his professional career. He retired in 2006.

John always lived life on his terms. He enjoyed traveling to Canada and sailing in Cape Cod, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his granddaughter Kayla Renee Olson and niece Debra Lee(Olson) Greene.

John is survived by his sons Douglas W. Olson (Sandi) Lake Luzerne NY, Lawrence J. Olson (Sandi) Hometown Arkansas, Kirk Howard- Colonie NY, Daughter Valerie J (Olson) Coffey- Corinth NY, Step-children Michele Lupe-Bowe - Niskayuna NY, Eric Lupe- Burnt Hills NY, Vincent Lupe - Georgia and Florida.

John is also survived by siblings William E. Olson, Roland G. Olson, Eugene F. Olson, Carolyn Olson-Allen, and Margaret A. Olson-Murphy.

Grandsons Jonathan, James, Zachary, and Alexander Olson as well as many more grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

In honoring with John's wishes and directives there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. A formal ceremony will be held at the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery and a celebration of remembrance of John's Life will be announced at a later date.
