Dean Johnson Obituary

Lake Luzerne

Dean A. Johnson, 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer due to exposure to Agent Orange.

Born on January 24, 1940 in Derby, CT, he was the son of the late Harold and Florence Johnson.

Dean joined the United States Marine Corps in 1959 and served two tours in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged in 1976 as a Sergeant E-5, and had earned numerous honors and medals for his service.  He was a loyal and dedicated Marine until his passing. He was always quick to greet his fellow Marines with a “Semper Fi, do or die”.  He loved his country, his flag and the Marines.

He was an auto mechanic for most of his life and a Volunteer Fireman in Ansonia, CT for many years.  He loved watching NASCAR on the weekends and was a diehard New York Jets, New York Mets and U Conn Huskies fan.

He was predeceased by his sister Beverly Johnson.

Survivors include his wife Serena Johnson; his three stepsons: Colby King of Corinth, Robert Junko of Glens Falls and Shawn Junko of Lake Luzerne; his daughter, Tammy Johnson: his son, Dean Johnson, Jr.and his four grandchildren, Caitlynn Kelly, Jackson Junko, Izabela Junko and Josef Dean Junko.

Dean’s family would like to thank Glens Falls Hospital and High Peaks Hospice for their outstanding care during their time of need.  They would also like to thank his favorite doctors, Harriet Bush, Dr. Q. and Dorian Cunniffe, RNj of HHHN.

In keeping with Dean’s wishes, there are no services scheduled.

The family requests that donations in his memory be directed to his beloved Marine Corps League, National Headquarters, 3619 Jefferson Davis Highway, Suite 115, Stafford, VA 22554
