Andrew Ellis, 76, of Lake Ave., passed away Saturday afternoon, January 12, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness, with his loving family at his side.
Born on March 11, 1942 in Lake Luzerne, he was the son of the late Jason John and Pansy Agusta (Eastwood) Ellis. He was a graduate of Hadley Luzerne Central School.
He married Elaine Croissant on May 11, 1963 at the First United Methodist Church of Lake Luzerne. Elaine passed away on March 25, 2003 following 40 years of marriage.
Andy was a dedicated employee for over 30 years at International Paper Company in Corinth. He had run number 11 paper machine for many years and retired as a trainer for the mill. He was a member of International Paper’s Quarter Century Club.
His enjoyments included bowling, hunting, gardening and playing golf. He was a past Assistant Chief of the Van R. Rhodes Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Luzerne and currently was president of the Luzerne Cemetery Association.
Andy was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife, Elaine; siblings: Alice Vanderwarker, Jake Ellis, Anthony Ellis and an infant sister, Isabella Ellis.
Survivors include his five children: Joseph (Donna) Ellis of Hadley, Jay (JoAnn) Ellis of Lake Luzerne, Jacqueline (Ronald) Shiel of Lake Luzerne, Jill Ellis of Lake Luzerne, James (Linda) Ellis of Lake Luzerne; six grandchildren: Justin, Kyleen, Alyssa, Jaynie, Zachery, and Joshua; two great grandsons: Justin, Jr. and Andrew; siblings: Beulah Dunkley of Stony Creek, Pamela Lemelin of Corinth, Doris (Larry) Gonnelly of Lake Luzerne, David (Evelyn) Ellis of Fountain, Colorado, Jeffrey (Virginia) Ellis of Fort Ann; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Van R. Rhodes Volunteer Fire Department following the funeral for a celebration of his life.
Private burial will be in Luzerne Cemetery, Lake Luzerne.
