Kenneth Metzler

Day

Kenneth J. Metzler, 64, of the Town of Day, passed away the evening of February 11th.  Retired from the Town of Day, Kenny was the building inspector for over 30 years. 
Born 30 April 1959 in Patterson, NJ, Ken was the son of the late Frederick E. and Dorothy (Walsh) Metzler.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard.  He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Michele (Gvoth) of 44 years, two sons, Garrett (Kirstie) and Zachary (Regina) and 5 grandchildren, Harrison, Oliver, Lilyana, Finley and Reid.  He is additionally survived by brothers Frederick (Marie), Joseph (Anna), Thomas (Patricia), Daniel (Nancy) and several nieces and nephews. 

 

Prior to moving to New York, Ken was active within his community volunteering for the Hawthorne Ambulance Department.  In addition to his volunteer work, Kenny worked plumbing with his father's business, Metzler Plumbing and Heating.  He continued plumbing work when relocating to Upstate New York before training to be the town’s Code Enforcement Officer.  He was a member of the Northern Adirondack Code Enforcement Officials and looked forward to their annual training in Lake Placid.  Ken was involved in implementing Meals On Wheels and volunteer drivers to help the local community members get the food they needed and to their needed appointments.  Kenny enjoyed boating, ATVing, and camping with family.  He enjoyed watching old westerns at home and spoiling his grandchildren with matchboxes. 
Family and friends are welcome to call at Brewer Funeral Home in Lake Luzerne from 12 -2 on Friday, and a service directly following at 2:00.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
