Hadley
Hilda Ziegler,86, of Park Ave., passed away Friday morning, January 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 30, 1937, in Lake Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Walker) Champagne. She was a graduate of Hadley Luzerne Central School.
She married Edward Ziegler on February 9, 1957. Ed passed away on June 19, 2020, following a happy 63 years of marriage.
Hilda worked at International Paper Co. in Corinth until her eldest child was born. She then stayed home to raise her children, babysit (and spoil) her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a past member of the Luzerne Hadley Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Hilda enjoyed crafts, especially plastic canvas, and crocheting, playing lottery scratch off tickets, camping in Maine, bowling, country western music, the Western Channel, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, and Dunkin’ frozen French Vanilla coffee. Most important to Hilda was the time she spent with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, and siblings: Alice Hathway, Betty Mudge, Celia Springer, Paul Champagne and Francis Champagne.
Survivors include her children: Terry (Kathy) Ziegler of Lake Luzerne, Penny Lautenschuetz of Lake Luzerne, Randy (Renee) Ziegler of Lake Luzerne, Tracy Ziegler of Hadley, Kelly (Eric) Kader of Lake Luzerne; grandchildren: Erica Ziegler, Gregory Ziegler, Andrea (Rob) Demetriou, Krista (David) Hermance, Ryan Whitaker, Kayla Lautenschuetz, Callie Kader, Sabrina Ziegler, Tiani Ziegler, Rachel Ziegler, Karry Ziegler, Jenna Kader, Kendan Ziegler, Evan Kader and Hayden Kader; great grandchildren: Lilliana Theresa, Robert Henry and a great grandson soon to be born, Milo Edward; a sister, Sharon (Robert) Kelso of Warrensburg; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
Private burial will be in the spring in Luzerne Cemetery.
