Carmen Klein Obituary

Carmen Beatrice Loretta Austin Klein, 77, of Route 28, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 25, 2024 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Carmen was born on September 14, 1946 in the island nation of Barbados, West Indies, where she became the daughter of the late Nigel and Edna (King) Austin.
Carmen moved to this country as a young child and proudly became a Citizen of the USA on July 17, 1961.
After completing high school in the Bronx, she joined the workforce, working in the Empire State Building and B Altman.
Carmen was and remained a strong willed, independent woman.
She met the love of her life in the summer of 67 and became engaged to him, Peter Klein, in October of 1967.
The young couple, she was 21 and Peter was 25, married in New York City on February 24, 1968.
While living in the Bronx, the happy couple had two children, first Devon their son, then Araina their daughter.
Wanting a life in the country, Carmen and Peter moved upstate to Dorloo, NY, in 1971, where they had their youngest, Eric Klein.
While living in Dorloo, Carmen earned an associate degree from SUNY Cobleskill in Culinary Arts.
Then in 1984 the family moved back to the Bronx for job opportunities until 1987 when missing and loving the country life caused them to move upstate again, this
time to Indian Lake where Carmen worked at the Indian Lake Public Library and later at the Adirondack Museum as Administrative Secretary helping to book bus
tours.
Carmen enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and above all, she loved being surrounded by her family especially her granddaughters and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, William Austin. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Peter Klein; one daughter, Araina (Tracy) Eldridge of Indian Lake, Devon (Josephine) Klein of Buffalo, Eric Klein of Indian Lake; two granddaughters: Ashton (Raymond) Hoag and Allison (Benjamin) Conboy all Of Indian Lake; four great grandchildren: Colin Conboy,
