Carl Hedger Obituary

Carl Hedger, a respected resident of Lake Luzerne, New York, and a beloved figure in his community, passed away from sepsis surrounded by his loving family.  Born on August 27, 1937, in Desbin, Canada, to Oscar and Edna Hedger, Carl was a man of integrity, warmth, and generosity.

Carl married Helen Yattaw June 10, 1966 in Cannon Ct. Helen passed away July 5, 2015 following 49 years of marriage.

A proud alumnus of Corinth Central School, Carl was known for his athletic prowess, excelling in various sports.  His passion for sports continued into his later years, where he enjoyed golfing with his brother-in-law, Fred Mann, at Bend of the River, and competing in a local bowling league.

Carl’s professional life was spent at Finch Pruyn, James River, and he retired from IP in Corinth. Known affectionately as “headgate” by his colleagues, Carl’s presence at the paper mills was as steadfast as his character.

Carl’s zest for life was evident in his love for boating and hosting gatherings at his picturesque home on the Hudson, where he created countless cherished memories with his friends and family.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and joy through his children: Cindy (Gerald) Hedger; Garth Hedger; Russell Hedger and Eric (Sherry) Wade; Dick and Connie in-Laws; Jim and Arlene in-laws.  Carl was a doting grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins and he holds a special place in the hearts of all who knew him, including his late granddaughter, Samantha.

As the fourth of eight children, Carl is survived by his siblings Lee Moore; Loretta Reynolds; Betty Kruger; Sharon (Tim) MacDougal; Gladys (Fred) Mann; and Diane Mosher, Larry and predeceased by a sister Catherine MacDonald.

A dedicated member of the Lions Club, Carl’s commitment to service and community betterment was unwavering.

A special loving thank you to Gail for her unwavering love for Carl, all the doctor’s appointments and helping with all his needs and wants. 

A special thank you to the ICU nurses, especially Carly and Shannon, Garrett on 3 West and the tower 6 nurses and at Glens Falls Hospital.

Carl Hedger’s spirit will forever be a beacon of light for those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts on many.  Rest in peace, dear Carl.

Friends may call Friday from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Mother and Child Parish, 405 Palmer Ave., Corinth.
